Our Story

How it started

The results were real. I felt sharper. I slept better. Everyday joys — a conversation, a walk, a book — felt rewarding again.

In 2023, I learned about dopamine, neuroplasticity, and how our brains get hijacked by designed-for-engagement apps. I wasn’t just reading about it — I was living it. I kept a daily checklist and committed to an eight-week rewiring experiment on myself. I quit social media. I stopped binge-watching. I changed what I ate. I moved my body every day. I picked up a skill that actually challenged me.

So I thought: if this worked for me, why wouldn’t it work for the 5,000 people living in my community?

In 2024, we started. The first group of twenty-four joined and saw the same results. Word spread. More people kept joining. Today, over 600 people have completed the program and earned their certificate. People keep coming because it works.

The Science

Why does it feel so hard to put the phone down?

The good news is that this can be reversed.

Every time we get a like, a notification, or an exciting new video, our brain releases a chemical called dopamine, the same signal that drives motivation and craving. Apps and shows are deliberately designed to trigger this again and again, keeping us hooked longer than we intend.

Over time, this constant stimulation can make everyday joys, a conversation, a walk, a good book, feel less rewarding by comparison. By stepping back from these triggers and reintroducing real, effortful activities, our brain's reward system can reset itself.

The loop, step by step

How a designed-for-engagement app keeps its hold.

1
The triggerA notification, an autoplaying reel, a red badge on an icon.
2
The spikeDopamine surges in anticipation of the reward, not from the reward itself.
3
The chaseThe reward is unpredictable, so we keep scrolling to find the next one.
4
The dipBaseline pleasure drops. Slower, real-world joys start to feel flat.
5
The resetRemove the triggers, add effortful activity, and the system recalibrates.
The Program

How Project Rewire works

Open to the whole family — parents, partners, children, and grandparents, because digital habits affect every generation.

01
Phase 1 · Learn

Understand what you're changing

We begin with community seminars and webinars where we break down the science of dopamine and digital overstimulation in plain language, so every participant understands exactly what they're working to change and why.

  • Community seminars
  • Webinars
  • Plain-language science
  • Family friendly
02
Phase 2 · Challenge

Eight weeks to rebuild the habit

Participants then join our eight-week challenge — a structured program to quit social media, stop binge-watching, cut ultra-processed foods, move your body daily, start a skill-based hobby, and meditate.

  • Seven pillars
  • Eight weeks
  • Certificate on completion

The seven pillars

1

No social media in any form

2

No movies or series

3

Whole foods only — no ultra-processed, high-sugar or high-fat foods

4

At least 30 minutes of aerobic exercise daily — walk, jog, or gym

5

Start a new skill-based hobby with a genuine learning curve

6

Daily meditation for 15 to 20 minutes

7

A consistent sleep schedule

We stay in touch with each participant personally throughout the eight weeks, and for those who want extra accountability, we sometimes form small teams to keep each other motivated. Along the way, we organize outdoor and indoor activities to keep participants engaged and energized as they build new habits.

Participants who complete all eight weeks earn a certificate. It sounds small, but it matters. It’s proof you did the work.
